Day Trips in Quebec City

Quebec City has plenty of options when you want to escape the urban buzz for a few hours. You don’t have to go far to feel like you’re somewhere completely different. Take, for example, a trip to Île d’Orléans just a quick 15-minute drive from downtown. The island’s quiet country roads, strawberry farms, and cider houses make for a charming afternoon. And if you’re there in late summer, don’t miss picking up some fresh raspberries from one of the roadside stands.

If the outdoors are your thing, Montmorency Falls is a must-visit just outside Quebec City with trails and a suspension bridge that’s a bit less crowded than Niagara Falls but just as stunning. I like going early on weekdays to avoid the tour groups. Fall colors here are something else. Or you could head a bit farther to the village of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, where the basilica is worth a peek and nearby hiking trails run along the St. Lawrence River.
