Description

Discover the magic of St Lawrence River as your winter playground on an ice canoeing experience. Perfect for first-timers, this all-inclusive activity is a great introduction to the historical role of ice canoeing in Quebec. Your experience begins near the boat ramp located around a 15-minute drive from downtown Quebec City. On arrival, you will be greeted warmly by your guide. Hear about the ice canoe’s historical role in maritime connections on the Saint-Lawrence. Suit up in your specialized equipment, learn the basic techniques, and go over the safety instructions. With the briefing out of the way, head toward the river. Each route is adapted according to the current weather conditions and tides. Canoers (that’s you) will have the opportunity to try both the oars and the crampons (aka “scooters”). Pause around half-way to walk on the ice, sip hot chocolate, enjoy a snack, and take a few selfies. You will be alone with your small-group on the river with a view that will leave you even more breathless than the actual ice canoeing. Then, return to the mainland so you can warm up and debrief. Your guide will be equipped with a GoPro camera to capture photos and videos of your activity along the way. Your photos and videos will be shared with you after your outing. Your unique experience continues when you return to earth. Take advantage of our lounge area and our magnificent Nordic sauna. Nestled on the banks of the St. Lawrence, it offers warmth and comfort after your activity, as well as a panoramic view. A unique, original, safe and fun experience!

Important Information

• A moderate level of physical ability is required
• This tour is subject to favorable weather conditions
• A minimum of 2 participants is required for the tour to operate
• In the event of poor weather conditions or minimum numbers not being met, you will be offered an alternative date or a full refund.
• Please arrive on time as displayed (ex: 9:00 AM)
• Bring 2 pairs of warm socks, 2 pairs of tights, 2 technical long-sleeve garments (one base layer, the other warmer), a light winter jacket (not too warm, so as not to sweat too much), a sports beanie, and/or a buff (if you have it)
• You might like to bring some extra clothes to use after the activity and a ziploc bag if you plan to bring your phone or a camera
• You may want to bring your bathing suit, a towel and sandals for the sauna after
• Sunglasses are optional
