Description
The museum is the only institution fully dedicated to Quebec art, including a unique Inuit art exhibition. It is set in one of the world's largest urban parks, the Plains of Abraham, offering 108 hectares of plains, wooded areas, and gardens. The museum's rear offers views of the park and the St. Lawrence River.
The complex consists of four buildings: Gérard-Morisset Pavilion, Charles Baillairgé Pavilion, Pierre Lassonde Pavilion, and the upcoming Espace Riopelle (opening Fall 2026). The Pierre Lassonde Pavilion on Grande Allée serves as the entrance, housing the ticket counter, cloakroom, boutique, and café. This pavilion features six post-1960 exhibition galleries, two temporary exhibition galleries, and four permanent galleries for Contemporary art, Us, Inuit art, and Decorative arts and design. It is an architectural landmark with a fully glass exterior.
The museum’s standard collections include Us, Inuit Art The Brousseau Collection, Illipunga, Decorative Arts and Design in Québec, and Contemporary Art in Québec.
Current Special Exhibition
HYPERREALISM: THIS IS NOT A BODY (February 26, 2026 - October 12, 2026) showcases over 30 sculptures by 25 international artists, illustrating the development of the human figure in sculpture since the 1970s.
